HOSPITALITY / AN AGE-OLD TRADITION
‘On the reception of guests’ is the title of Chapter 53 of the Rule of St Benedict. This rule inspired the guiding principal behind Fontevraud. That’s to say that the tradition of hospitality is in the Abbey’s genes!
WELCOME / THE ART OF LIVING AND DELIGHTING!
Welcome and hospitality have a powerful historical link to the Saint-Lazare priory, where Fontevraud L’Hôtel is situated. A place of community living since its founding, it housed the nuns in charge of caring for lepers, before becoming a convalescence home, and then a hospital during Fontevraud’s penitentiary period…
Today Fontevraud L’Hôtel continues this tradition via an art of living and an art of receiving, to take care of and delight our guests. Better still, it has brought that hospitality right up to date!
ACCESSIBILITY / HOSPITALITY 2.0
It is not a simple leaflet that is handed to guests when they arrive at the hotel, but an iPad mini! It allows our guests to access hotel services and much more besides: to discover the secrets of the Abbey and the tourist sights nearby, to reserve their breakfast or a table in the restaurant, to surf the internet at will… In the hotel rooms, Fontevraud TV and a video on-demand service are available. On offer: documentaries about Fontevraud Royal Abbey and films or music created here. A moment away, the iBar’s touchscreen tables make up a real digital library of historical information, quizzes and games. In short, it’s Hospitality 2.0!
